Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Promptler (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Promptler application, website, and related services (the “Service”).
1. Where your prompts live
- On your device. Your prompts, notes, snippets, categories, labels, templates, and images are stored on your device. We don’t keep a copy of your library on our servers.
- In your own iCloud. If you’re signed into iCloud, your library syncs across your devices through your private iCloud account, using Apple’s CloudKit. That data is stored by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy; we can’t read it.
- When you run an AI tool. AI-powered tools (such as StructWeaver, MarkMuse, SchemaSong, SceneCaster, and the “Clean up with AI” option when saving from another app) send the text you submit to our server, which passes it to our AI provider, OpenAI, to produce the result. Promptler asks for your permission before the first time it does this. We don’t store that text. For each run, our server keeps a usage record (which tool ran, token counts, cost, and timing, tied to a one-way hash of your device’s notification token rather than to you) for 90 days, plus hashed rate-limit counters that are deleted within about two days. Under OpenAI’s API terms, data sent through its API isn’t used to train its models; OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse and then deletes it. The on-device tools (CompactFlow, PrettyPulse, SnippetFuse, MeterMuse, LensScribe) never send your text anywhere.
2. Information we collect
- Account information (optional). If you choose Sign in with Apple, we receive an Apple user identifier, plus your name and email address if you choose to share them, along with basic device details (model, iOS version, language, region, and time zone). You can use Promptler without signing in.
- Usage information. Device type, operating system, app version, and app usage events (for example, which screens and features are used) that help us understand and improve the Service. We use Google Firebase Analytics for this, Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports, and Firebase Performance Monitoring for app speed and network timing. Analytics events are tied to an app-instance identifier, not to your Apple account; crash and performance data aren’t tied to you.
- Website analytics. On promptler.app we use PostHog to see how visitors use the site: pages viewed, buttons clicked, how far people scroll, heatmaps, and session recordings of page interactions. Recordings mask anything typed into forms, such as the email field on the Android waitlist. This covers the website only, not the app.
- Advertising measurement. We use the Meta (Facebook) SDK to measure our app install campaigns. It sends Meta app installs and sessions, finishing setup, starting a free trial, and purchases (product and price). iOS asks whether Promptler may track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you allow it, the Meta SDK may use your device’s advertising identifier; if you don’t, it doesn’t. The app works the same either way, and you can change your choice anytime in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Purchase information. Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, and RevenueCat and our own server receive purchase records (such as the product, price, and date, linked to your Apple user identifier or an app-generated device ID), but never your payment details. Your credit balance is recorded with your purchases and synced through your iCloud.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a push token through Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send you notifications about the app. The AI tools also use a one-way hash of this token to apply fair-use limits.
- Messages you send us. When you contact support or submit an issue report, we receive what you send, including any email address you provide, your app version and basic device details, and your Apple user identifier if you’re signed in.
3. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including running the AI tools you choose to use.
- To manage subscriptions, credits, and slots.
- To measure how well our advertising works, where you’ve allowed tracking.
- To respond to your support requests and communicate with you about the Service.
- To detect, prevent, and address abuse, security, or technical issues (for example, rate-limiting the AI tools).
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information with:
- Service providers that help us operate the Service — Apple (iCloud, App Store, Sign in with Apple), Google Firebase (hosting the AI tools, analytics, crash reporting, notifications), PostHog (website analytics), OpenAI (processing text you send to an AI tool), RevenueCat (subscriptions), and Meta (advertising measurement) — under their own terms and privacy policies.
- Legal authorities when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Promptler or others.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, with appropriate safeguards.
5. Data retention
Your library stays on your device and in your iCloud until you delete it. Text sent to an AI tool isn’t kept by us after the result is returned (OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days, as described above); AI usage records are deleted after 90 days. We keep account, purchase, and support records for as long as needed to provide the Service or meet legal obligations. You can delete your account in the app (Settings › Account › Delete Account, in Promptler 2.1 or later) or by contacting us; see our data deletion page for what gets deleted.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, and you can lock the app or individual prompts with a PIN, Face ID, or Touch ID. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can export your whole library from the app at any time. To exercise your other rights, contact us using the details below.
8. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
9. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than the one in which you reside, including the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards to protect international data transfers.
10. Third-party services
The Service may link to or integrate with third-party services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice (for example, by updating the “Last updated” date or by notifying you in the Service).
